XFL: XFL roundup: Battlehawks storm back to edge Brahmas

The St. Louis Battlehawks scored 15 points in the final 1:25 to pull off a stunning 18-15 victory over the host San Antonio Brahmas on Sunday.

St. Louis (1-0) went into the fourth quarter trailing 6-3 before Jack Coan threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Fred Brown and John Parker Romo kicked a 48-yard field goal for a 15-3 lead.

A.J. McCarron then capped an eight-play, 71-yard drive with an 18-yard TD strike to Hakeem Butler before finding Austin Proehl from 14 yards out on the following drive for the decisive points.

McCarron finished with 190 yards and two TDs on 18-for-26 passing, while Coan completed 25 of 36 passes for 207 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Kalen Ballage led all rushers with 24 carries for 84 yards for San Antonio (0-1).

Roughnecks 33, Guardians 12

Brandon Silvers threw for 272 yards and Houston scored 24 unanswered points as part of a drubbing of visiting Orlando.

Silvers completed 26 of 42 passes and had two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Roughnecks (1-0), who rattled off three TDs and a pair of field goals after the Guardians (0-1) found the end zone on the game’s opening drive.

Orlando quarterbacks Paxton Lynch and Quinten Dormady combined to throw for three interceptions. The Guardians picked up 78 yards on the ground on 16 carries, while Andrew Jamiel led the receiving corps with three catches for 80 yards and a TD.
