The Vegas Vipers and Arlington Renegades will open the XFL’s 2023 season on Feb. 18, just six days after the Super Bowl is played in Glendale, Ariz.
The upstart league announced its full schedule on Thursday, and all eight teams will be in action on the opening weekend.
The Vipers and Renegades will meet on the latter’s home field in Arlington, Texas, at 3 p.m. ET, and the Orlando Guardians will visit the Houston Roughnecks at 8:30 p.m. that day.
On Feb. 19, the St. Louis Battlehawks will travel to San Antonio to face the Brahmas, and the Seattle Sea Dragons will visit the D.C. Defenders.
In all, the new iteration of the XFL is scheduled to play 43 games — 40 in the regular season, plus two playoff and the championship. Most will be televised on ABC or an ESPN network, with FX airing 15 of them.
In March 2020, the XFL shut down amid the COVID-19 pandemic and suspended operations the following month. The ownership group of Dany Garcia, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and RedBird Capital Partners bought the remnants of the league with the goal of a 2023 restart.
