The St. Louis Battlehawks signed quarterback Vincent Testaverde Jr. on Thursday.
Testaverde, the son of former No. 1 overall NFL draft pick Vinny Testaverde, has hopped from one program to another both collegiately and professionally.
After starting his college career as Patrick Mahomes’ backup at Texas Tech, he transferred to his father’s alma mater, Miami, and then to FCS program Albany.
As a pro, he spent some time in summer camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019 but was released. Testaverde, 26, then bounced to teams in the Canadian Football League, XFL, Indoor Football League and National Arena League, but doesn’t appear to have played in any games.
In a corresponding move, the Battlehawks placed quarterback Nick Tiano on injured reserve. NFL veteran A.J. McCarron is the team’s starter.
The Battlehawks (6-2) host the Seattle Sea Dragons (5-3) on Monday.
