Cameron Brink piled up 27 points and 16 rebounds as No. 4 Stanford rolled to a 74-55 win over Belmont on Wednesday in the opening round of the Ball Dawgs Classic in Henderson, Nev.

Brink shot 9-of-16 from the floor and also tallied three assists and two blocks. Brink entered the game having made 72 consecutive free throws — three shy of the Division I record. She made her first shot of the night from the charity stripe, but missed her second. She finished the night 9-of-10 from the line.

Stanford (5-0) also got 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists from Kiki Iriafen. Tuti Jones and Tessa Miller each scored 18 points for Belmont (2-3).

The Bruins led by a point early in the third quarter, and then Stanford went on a 9-0 run, with six of those points coming from Brink. Belmont trimmed the deficit to six points in the fourth quarter, but the Cardinal closed the game on a 15-2 run.

“(Brink) had a great second half… I thought Kiki had a really good game. I thought our fourth quarter was great,” Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer said. “We started making some shots and we’ve got to run offense better. We worked hard defensively.”

Stanford will face No. 13 Florida State on Thursday.

No. 8 USC 71, Penn State 70

Juju Watkins recorded her first career double-double with 31 points and 12 rebounds as the Trojans outlasted the Lady Lions at the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship in Nassau, Bahamas.

Neither team led by more than eight points.

Former All-American guard Ashley Owusu did not play for Penn State. She has yet to appear in a game since transferring from Virginia Tech this past offseason.
