Clemson fired women’s basketball coach Amanda Butler on Tuesday after six seasons.

The Tigers finished 12-19 this season, including 5-13 and in 12th place in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Clemson’s season ended with an 85-72 loss to Boston College last Wednesday in the opening game of the ACC tournament.

“I thank Amanda for her contributions to our basketball program as head coach for the past six seasons and wish her the best in the future,” athletic director Graham Neff said. “We are committed to completing a national search for the next leader of the program as the sport continues to grow. We believe that we are resourced and supported in a way to make this one of the top teams in the nation every year.”

Butler, 52, compiled an overall record of 81-106 (32-75 ACC) at Clemson.

She led the Tigers to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 20 years in her first season in 2018-19 and was named the ACC Coach of the Year.

Butler previously coached at Florida (2007-17) and Charlotte (2005-07) and has an overall record of 309-265.
