Chicago Sky All-Star rookie Angel Reese will miss the rest of the season due to a wrist injury, the team announced Saturday.

Reese sustained the injury during Friday’s 92-78 win over the visiting Los Angeles Sparks. She later underwent further medical testing, and the Sky decided to shut her down for the year.

“What a year,” Reese posted to X, formerly known as Twitter. “I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol.

“Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed. All I have ever wanted was to come into the W and make an impact. I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so. I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next.”

Chicago selected Reese with the seventh overall pick in this year’s draft, and the 22-year-old went on to average 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds across 34 games (all starts) this season. She was also named an All-Star.

Reese recorded 26 double-doubles this year, the second most in a single season in league history.

The Sky currently sit eighth in the WNBA standings, the final playoff spot. They have six regular-season games remaining, starting with Sunday’s matchup against the visiting Dallas Wings.
