The Phoenix Mercury are set to acquire five-time All-Star forward Alyssa Thomas in a trade with the Connecticut Sun, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday.

Thomas and guard Tyasha Harris are set to join the Mercury from the Sun, who would receive guards Natasha Cloud and Rebecca Allen and a first-round draft pick.

The transaction is a sign-and-trade for Thomas, meaning the move cannot become official until Saturday.

Thomas, a six-time All-Defensive Team selection, has played all 11 of her seasons in the WNBA with the Sun, reaching the Finals in 2019 and 2022.

Thomas, 32, owns career averages of 12.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.5 steals in 320 games (310 starts) since making her debut with Connecticut in 2014.

Still in her prime, Thomas finished in the top five in Most Valuable Player voting in each of the past three seasons and made the All-WNBA first team in both 2023 and 2024. She won a gold medal with the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Thomas was an unrestricted free agent, but the Sun tagged her with a core designation, meaning a trade was her only way to leave.

Cloud, 32, is a three-time All-Defensive Team selection who helped the Washington Mystics win the WNBA championship in 2019. She put up 11.5 points and 6.9 assists per game last season, up from her career figures of 8.6 and 5.3, respectively, for the Mystics (2015-19, 2021-23) and Phoenix (2024).

Allen, a 32-year-old Australian, has averaged 6.0 points and 2.7 rebounds per game for the New York Liberty (2015-19, 2021-22), Connecticut (2023) and Phoenix (2024). Last season, she logged 7.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

Harris, 26, averaged career highs in points (10.5 per game) and assists (three per game) for the Sun last season. For her career with the Dallas Wings (2020-22) and Connecticut (2023-24), she averages 6.6 points and 2.6 assists per game.
