Dana White, the CEO and president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, is picking up some new responsibilities as a board member of Meta, parent company of Facebook and Instagram.

Mark Zuckerberg announced the appointment of White and two others on Monday.

“I’ve admired him as an entrepreneur and his ability to build such a beloved brand,” Zuckerberg said of White in the announcement.

White is a longtime supporter of President-elect Donald Trump, endorsing him as far back as the 2016 Republican National Convention. Trump, in turn, has been known to attend UFC events.

White was appointed president of the UFC in 2001 after his friends purchased it for $2 million. UFC was sold to an investment group led by WME-IMG (now known as Endeavor) in 2016 for more than $4 billion. In 2023 it was merged with WWE into a new public company called TKO Group Holdings, and White was made CEO of UFC.

White was recorded slapping his wife Anne amid a physical altercation during a 2022 New Year’s Eve party. He publicly apologized and remained in his role with UFC.
