Davis Love III withdrew from the Valero Texas Open prior to the second round on Friday due to thumb and wrist injuries.

Love imploded during the first round, recording 11 bogeys against one birdie to finish with a 10-over-par 82 at TPC San Antonio.

He was playing in his first PGA Tour event since the Wyndham Championship in August. He has failed to make a cut since the RSM Classic in November 2021.

Love, who will turn 59 on April 13, won the 1997 PGA Championship. He also recorded second-place finishes in the Masters in 1995 and 1999 and tied for second at the 1996 U.S. Open.
