Nearly three years after being traded by the team, veteran DPS Nam-joo “Striker” Kwon has returned to the Boston Uprising.

The team announced the move Tuesday with a tweet of “Back where it all began. Welcome home,” and a video montage from Striker’s first stint with the team.

Known for his Tracer and Widowmaker play, Striker helped the Uprising put together the first undefeated stage in Overwatch League history during Season 1. The team went on to finish third, with Striker widely considered the Uprising’s best player.

However, Boston parted with Striker in December 2018 as part of a transfer agreement with the San Francisco Shock.

With San Francisco, Striker was reunited with former Boston coach Dae-hee “Crusty” Park and helped the Shock win back-to-back OWL championships in 2019 and 2020. He was named the playoffs MVP in the latter year.

Striker parted ways with the Shock in June, with the team reuniting with Seonchang “ANS” Lee. However, Striker indicated his intention to return to the OWL, and he’s now back with the team that signed him from the Korean Contenders.

“Take care of him,” the Shock tweeted in reply to Tuesday’s announcement.

Striker tweeted, “Hi I’m back! Super excited to play in Boston. I’m really happy to come back where I started. Also looking forward to meet Boston fans again!!!”
