The Chicago Red Stars signed midfielder Leilanni Nesbeth to a three-year contract through 2026.
Nesbeth, 22, was Chicago’s first-round selection (10th overall) in January’s 2024 NWSL Draft.
“Leilanni brings a wealth of experience that will undoubtedly help her succeed here the way she has with Bermuda and in college,” Red Stars general manager Richard Feuz said in a news release Wednesday. “We are very happy to welcome Leilanni to the Red Stars and look forward to seeing her develop her game to this next level in her career.”
Nesbeth was a two-time national champion at Florida State (2021, 2023), where she collected 15 goals and 14 assists in 89 matches (72 starts).
She has represented her native Bermuda in international competition and played professionally for England’s Brighton & Hove Albion in 2018.
The Red Stars open their 2024 National Women’s Soccer League season March 16 against the Utah Royals in Sandy, Utah.
