Veteran Jess Fishlock and 18-year-old Jordyn Bugg found the back of the net and the Seattle Reign hung on for a 2-1 win over the North Carolina Courage on Saturday in Cary, N.C.

Fishlock scored in the first half in her 200th career regular-season appearance before Bugg tallied the first goal of her career in memorable fashion. In the 56th minute, she intercepted a clearing attempt and rocketed in a right-footed shot from well outside the box into the top-right corner of the net for Seattle (1-0-1, 4 points).

Aline Gomes scored from the center of the box three minutes later for North Carolina (0-1-1, 1 point).

Reign goalkeeper Claudia Dickey made four saves, including a leaping save during second-half stoppage time to preserve the win.

Current 2, Spirit 0

Lo’eau LaBonta scored the 10th penalty-kick goal of her career to help Kansas City earn a win over host Washington.

LaBonta deposited the 56th-minute penalty kick in the bottom-right corner of the goal while Spirit goalkeeper Aubrey Kingsbury stepped the other way. Temwa Chawinga, last year’s NWSL Golden Boot winner, added her second goal in two games for the Current (2-0-0, 6 points) deep into second-half stoppage time.

Current keeper Lorena made three saves for her first shutout with her new team. Aubrey Kingsbury had four saves for the Spirit (1-1-0, 3 points).

Wave 3, Royals 2

Gia Corley scored an opportune goal right after her San Diego side gave up a two-goal lead, and it stood as the game-winner against visiting Utah.

After Claudia Zornoza cut Utah’s 2-0 deficit in half by putting a free kick in the back of the net, Mina Tanaka converted off a through pass to tie the game in the 72nd minute. But just two minutes later, Corley intercepted Utah keeper Mandy McGlynn’s goal kick and made her pay with a goal in the top-left corner.

Maria Sanchez and Adriana Leon scored in the first half for the Wave (1-1-0, 4 points). Allyson Sentnor had the assist on Tanaka’s goal for the Royals (0-1-1, 1 point).

Bay FC 2, Racing Louisville 0

Joelle Anderson and Karlie Lema supplied the goals as Bay FC blanked Louisville in San Jose, Calif.

Anderson scored in the 12th minute for Bay FC (1-1-0, 4 points), and Lema struck a terrific shot on the run outside the box for her first career goal two minutes into first-half stoppage time.

Jordan Silkowitz stopped three shots for the clean sheet. Katie Lund had two saves for Louisville (0-1-1, 1 point).
