Camille Ashton resigned as general manager of the unbeaten Kansas City Current on Wednesday, the NWSL team announced.
Ashton began her term as GM in January 2022. The club is 6-0-4 this season and stands second in the standings with 22 points.
“I am thankful for my time in Kansas City,” Ashton said in the Current’s news release. “It was important to me to dedicate my time and efforts to ensure a successful 2024 season by building the championship-caliber roster that’s currently at near the top of the table. I am proud of what we have accomplished here. I look forward to the next step in my personal and professional journey.”
Ashton didn’t provide a reason for her resignation.
Last October, the club hired former United States Women’s National Team coach Vlatko Andonovski as coach and sporting director. Andonovski reportedly took over some of Ashton’s duties.
Caitlin Carducci will serve as interim GM while Kansas City conducts a search for a new general manager.
