Anthony Beauvillier scored two goals to help lift the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 6-3 win at Detroit on Thursday, spoiling the Red Wings’ season opener.

Marcus Pettersson and Erik Karlsson each had a goal and an assist for Pittsburgh, which was coming off a season-opening 6-0 home loss to the New York Rangers on Wednesday.

Alex DeBrincat had two goals and an assist for Detroit.

With the score tied at 1-1 in the second period, Pittsburgh took a 4-1 lead on three goals in a span of 2:33.

Beauvillier scored off of a rebound in front of the Detroit goal, poking the puck past Red Wings goalie Ville Husso to make it 2-1 at 2:55.

Drew O’Connor took a pass from Evgeni Malkin and put the puck into a half-empty net to give Pittsburgh a 3-1 lead at 3:53.

Pittsburgh’s fourth goal came courtesy of Pettersson, who floated a shot from the point that Husso couldn’t coral with his glove before it went behind him into the net at 5:28.

Detroit cut its deficit to 4-2 at 12:32 of the second when Vladimir Tarasenko snapped a shot from the left faceoff circle past Pittsburgh goalie Joel Blomqvist (29 saves) just as a power play expired.

In the third period, Pittsburgh struck on the power play and regained a three-goal lead with 18:18 remaining on a goal by Karlsson, who wristed in a shot from the left faceoff circle.

DeBrincat scored on a two-man advantage with 11:47 remaining to bring Detroit to within 5-3, but Kevin Hayes gave Pittsburgh a 6-3 lead with 7:39 left.

The Red Wings opened the scoring just 3:46 into the first period on a goal by DeBrincat, who took a cross-ice pass from Lucas Raymond and beat Blomqvist stick side.

Pittsburgh tied the score at 1-1 with 4:58 remaining in the first period when Beauvillier sent a puck from behind the net that went off Detroit defenseman Ben Chiarot and across the goal line.
