Defenseman Thomas Chabot collected two goals and an assist in his return from a four-game absence to fuel the host Ottawa Senators to a 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.

Chabot, who had been sidelined by an undisclosed injury, scored the eventual winning goal with 5:45 remaining. His shot from the point deflected off the stick of Minnesota defenseman Calen Addison and past Cam Talbot (30 saves) for his fifth goal of the season.

Tim Stutzle scored in his third consecutive contest, captain Brady Tkachuk also tallied and Anton Forsberg made 40 saves to help the Senators snap a nine-game skid (0-7-2) against the Wild. Ottawa’s victory was its first vs. Minnesota since it posted a 3-2 win on March 31, 2016.

Kevin Fiala recorded a goal and an assist for the Wild, who have lost three of their last four games. Captain Jared Spurgeon and fellow defenseman Jon Merrill also scored for Minnesota.

Chabot wristed a shot from the left circle to open the scoring at 2:09 of the first before Tkachuk tallied from along the goal line with 2:55 remaining in the period.

Fiala halved the deficit 6:31 into the second period, scoring from the slot. The goal was Fiala’s 17th of the season and 13th in his last 19 games.

Spurgeon beat Forsberg from the slot just over six minutes later to level the contest at 2-2. Spurgeon’s fifth goal boosted his point total to 20, marking the ninth consecutive season with at least that many points.

Defenseman Josh Brown’s shot from the point was deflected in front, with the rebound settling at the skates of Stutzle. He made no mistake as his 12th goal of the season gave the Senators a 3-2 lead with 3:38 remaining in the second period.

Merrill kept the puck in the offensive zone before scoring from the left circle to forge a tie at 4:32 into the third period.
