Shane Pinto scored the game-winning goal with 2:55 remaining in overtime to give the Ottawa Senators a 3-2 road win over the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday in the last game before the All-Star break for each team.

Streaking toward the Detroit goal, Pinto took a pass from Thomas Chabot and chipped the puck over the stick of Detroit goalie Alex Lyon, who finished with 22 saves.

Mark Kastelic and Brady Tkachuk added goals for Ottawa, which has won two straight and four of its last six.

Daniel Sprong and Dylan Larkin scored in defeat for Detroit, which despite the loss, earned a point and has only two regulation losses in its last 13 games.

Trailing 2-1 in the third period, Detroit tied the score with 8:45 remaining in regulation when Larkin fired a shot from above the faceoff circles that went above the glove of Ottawa goalie Joonas Korpisalo, who had 23 saves in the win.

Larkin extended his point streak to 12 games on a chance that came when Detroit applied pressure in Ottawa’s zone immediately after killing off a Senators power play.

Detroit opened the scoring with 11:03 remaining in the first period on a goal by Sprong, who took a cross-ice pass from Joe Veleno and fired a shot from the left faceoff circle that eluded Korpisalo.

Ottawa tied the score at 1-1 with 16:51 left in the second period when Kastelic camped in front of Lyon and tipped in Jacob Bernard-Docker’s shot from the point.

The Senators then took a 2-1 lead with 5:28 to go in the second on a goal by Tkachuk, who after serving a penalty came out of the box, took a loose puck near center ice, skated in on a breakaway and beat Lyon to the glove side.

The Red Wings managed just three shots in the first period but had 11 each in the second and third periods to tie Ottawa in shots for the game at 25.
