Sean Monahan had a goal and an assist for the Winnipeg Jets in a 4-2 win against the visiting St. Louis Blues on Tuesday.
Nikolaj Ehlers and Josh Morrissey each had two assists for the Jets, who have won four in a row and seven of their past eight games. Laurent Brossoit made 36 saves.
Pavel Buchnevich and Brandon Saad scored, and Joel Hofer made 28 saves for the Blues, who have dropped five of seven (2-5-0).
Monahan gave the Jets a 1-0 lead at 8:53 of the first period. Ehlers received a pass from Morrissey near the blue line and took it to the left hashmarks before feeding Monahan at the inner edge of the left circle for a one-timer.
Brenden Dillon made it 2-0 less than two minutes later. Mark Scheifele won the faceoff back to the defenseman, whose shot from high above the two circles beat Hofer stick side at 10:20.
But St. Louis quickly responded.
Brossoit made the save on Marco Scandella’s shot from the blue line but left a rebound by his left pad and Buchnevich was on the doorstep to cut it to 2-1 at 10:50.
Connor connected on a partial breakaway to extend Winnipeg’s lead to 3-1 at 15:33. Morrissey knocked away a Blues pass attempt on an odd-man rush and directed it into the neutral zone, where Connor collected it before driving up the left wing and scoring far side from the circle.
Saad pulled St. Louis to within one at 9:03 of the second period when Jets defenseman Nate Schmidt directed a short pass at the front of the net toward partner Dylan Samberg, but the puck went to Saad in the slot.
Alex Iafallo snapped a 20-game goal drought to put the Jets ahead 4-2 at 10:13 of the third period. Ehlers’ shot from the right circle went wide of the net and bounced off the end boards and back to the edge of the crease, where Iafallo slipped it five-hole.
