NHL: Sabres F Jason Zucker signs 2-year extension

Buffalo Sabres forward Jason Zucker signed a two-year, $9.5 million contract extension on Friday.

The deal was made hours before the official 3 p.m. ET NHL trade deadline.

Zucker, 33, has 44 points (18 goals, 26 assists) and a plus-4 rating in 54 games this season while playing on a one-year, $5 million contract. He would have been an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

He has 414 points (214 goals, 200 assists) in 751 career games since the 2011-12 seson with the Minnesota Wild, Pittsburgh Penguins, Arizona Coyotes, Nashville Predators and Sabres. He was dealt from the Coyotes to the Predators at last season’s trade deadline.
