NHL: Report: Senators’ Nick Cousins (knee) out 6-8 weeks

Senators forward Nick Cousins is expected to be sidelined six-to-eight weeks with a knee injury, the Ottawa Sun reported on Wednesday.

Per the report, Cousins is receiving different opinions on the severity of the injury.

Cousins was injured following a knee-on-knee collision with Toronto Maple Leafs rookie Jacob Quillan early in the first period of Saturday’s game. Cousins did not return to the game for the Senators, who posted a 2-1 victory.

Cousins, 31, has 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in 47 games this season. The 11-year journeyman signed as a free agent in the summer after playing two seasons with the Florida Panthers.

A Stanley Cup winner with Florida, Cousins has 193 points (76 goals, 117 assists) in 639 career games with seven different teams.
