Vladislav Namestnikov scored two goals and the host Detroit Red Wings extended their winning streak to three games by defeating the Edmonton Oilers 4-2 on Tuesday night.

Dylan Larkin and Moritz Seider had the other goals for Detroit, while Alex Nedeljkovic made 31 saves.

Connor McDavid scored his ninth goal of the season for the Oilers, who lost for just the second time this season. Jesse Puljujarvi had the other Edmonton goal while Stuart Skinner stopped 35 shots.

Detroit had a 16-9 advantage in shots on goal in the first period and took a 1-0 lead.

Namestnikov put the Wings on top at 14:03 of the first period. He collected a pass from Sam Gagner at center ice, skated around a defenseman and beat Skinner on the stick side.

The Red Wings had a 13-11 edge in shots on goal in the second period and emerged with a 3-1 lead.

Namestnikov’s second goal of the game came off a deflection. Filip Hronek took a shot from the point that deflected off Michael Rasmussen’s stick and bounced in front to Namestnikov, who knocked in his seventh goal this season.

A mistake by Skinner handed the Red Wings a 3-0 advantage. He tried to bang the puck off the back boards but barely made contact. The puck bounced back toward the net, where Larkin pounced on it and scored at 14:09 of the period.

Edmonton scored in the final minute of the period. Puljujarvi scored on a breakaway, beating Nedeljkovic on the glove side. Slater Koekkoek was credited with an assist.

McDavid made it a one-goal game 38 seconds into the third period. He fired a shot from the left circle past Nedeljkovic after a lead-in pass from Darnell Nurse. Evan Bouchard collected the second assist.

Edmonton’s Zach Hyman soon got behind the defense, but Nedeljkovic dove and poked the puck away to keep his team in front. Hyman had a shot clang off the goalpost with under seven minutes to go.

Seider clinched Detroit’s victory with an empty-netter with 5.4 seconds left.
