Vincent Trocheck scored both goals as the New York Rangers came from behind for a 2-1 overtime win over the host Boston Bruins on Saturday night.

Trocheck slotted home Artemi Panarin’s pass from the low left circle at 2:03 of OT to lift New York to its second win in as many games against Boston this season, its second in as many nights and third in four games.

Trocheck also scored the Rangers’ only goal in regulation. His power-play tally with 9:10 left in regulation forced extra time.

Igor Shesterkin stopped 21 shots in the victory, his first start since allowing six goals Tuesday against Toronto.

Trent Frederic netted the lone goal for Boston, which was 2-0-1 over its previous three games.

Jeremy Swayman made 12 of his 31 saves in the third period.

Trocheck’s goal was the only shot in overtime. New York had a 34-22 advantage in shots.

The Rangers were 1-for-6 on the power play and went 4-for-4 on the kill.

The physical matchup featured a total of 45 penalty minutes, 36 hits and 30 blocked shots.

The Bruins broke the scoreless deadlock at the 2:07 mark of the second when James van Riemsdyk whipped a pass out of the corner to Frederic, who banged home a loose puck from the blue paint.

After an earlier fight between Frederic and New York captain Jacob Trouba, the game’s physical tone reached a new level with 1:50 left in the second period. Boston star David Pastrnak was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for a heavy hit on Ryan Lindgren.

However, the Rangers could not capitalize on three minutes of power play time that resulted, and Swayman flashed the glove to stop a long Adam Fox wrister just after the kill was successful.

New York’s fifth man advantage finally resulted in the tying score. Trocheck slid down the middle of the ice unmanned and ripped home a Mika Zibanejad feed off the cycle past Swayman’s blocker.

The visitors held the territorial advantage during a scoreless first. Swayman made a strong save with two minutes left in the period, denying Chris Kreider’s attempt coming down the slot off an exchange with Zibanejad.
