Penguins forward Michael Bunting emerged unscathed from a car accident outside Pittsburgh’s home arena before Sunday’s game, but did not suit up against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

In his first full season with the Penguins, the 29-year-old Bunting has 25 points (13 goals, 12 assists) in 43 games.

At the trade deadline last season, Pittsburgh acquired Bunting, a trio of prospects and two draft picks from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Jake Guentzel and Ty Smith.

In 311 games with the Arizona Coyotes, Toronto Maple Leafs, Hurricanes and Penguins, Bunting has 206 points (89 goals, 117 assists).
