USA Hockey named Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan to lead Team USA for the 2025 Four Nations Face-Off and the 2026 United States Men’s Olympic hockey team on Saturday morning.

The Four Nations Face-Off will be played next Feb. 12-20 and feature NHL players from the United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden. The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held the following February in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

Sullivan was set to coach the 2022 Olympic squad but when NHL players didn’t take part, Sullivan wasn’t involved.

The 56-year-old Sullivan has international coaching experience. He was an assistant coach at the 2006 Olympics in Turin, Italy, then also at the 2008 World Championship and 2016 World Cup. He was the head coach of Team USA at the 2007 World Championship.

Sullivan, a Massachusetts native, has an NHL head coaching record of 445-275-100 with 15 ties with the Boston Bruins (2003-04, 2005-06) and Penguins, where he’s been on the bench since the 2015-16 season. He won back-to-back Stanley Cup titles with the Penguins in 2016 and ’17.

He played 11 NHL seasons with four different teams.
