Patrick Kane scored at 3:42 of overtime to give the host Detroit Red Wings a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night.

Kane collected a backhanded pass from Dylan Larkin and scored from the slot in Detroit’s third straight victory. The Red Wings also ended a 10-game losing streak to Colorado, which was also seeking its third straight victory.

Larkin scored the regulation goal for Detroit and Alex Lyon made 30 saves. Ben Chiarot was also credited with an assist on Kane’s 10th goal this season.

Nathan MacKinnon had the Avalanche goal to increase his point total to 93. Colorado’s backup goaltender Justus Annunen recorded 28 saves.

The Red Wings killed off a Michael Rasmussen penalty early in the third.

Midway through the period, the Wings took advantage of a Jonathan Drouin tripping penalty against Lucas Raymond,

Larkin scored his 25th goal in the slot at 12:02 of the period, beating Annunen on the stick side off a feed from David Perron. Shayne Gostisbehere picked up the second assist.

Colorado came up empty on a power play after DeBrincat was whistled for tripping.

With 1:09 left in regulation, the Avalanche’s Logan O’Connor was penalized for holding Chiarot. J.T. Compher was stopped in front by Annunen on a backhanded attempt in the closing seconds.
