The Edmonton Oilers placed veteran forward Sam Gagner on waivers Tuesday.

Gagner, 34, has recorded five goals and five assists in 27 games this season, averaging 10:14 in ice time per game.

He is in his third tour with Edmonton after signing a one-year, two-way deal worth $775,000 in late October.

The Oilers selected Gagner with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2007 NHL draft and he played for the club from 2007-14 and again from 2019-20.

Gagner has collected 529 points (197 goals, 332 assists) in 1,042 career games over 17 seasons with seven NHL teams.
