The NHL fined Edmonton Oilers forward Adam Erne $2,018.23 on Thursday for elbowing Seattle’s Pierre-Edouard Bellemare.

It is the maximum fine allowable under the collective bargaining agreement.

The incident occurred during Edmonton’s 4-3 overtime win against the visiting Kraken on Wednesday night.

Erne was penalized for an illegal check to the head at the 10:57 mark of the third period.

Erne, 28, has no points and seven penalty minutes through seven games this season, his first with the Oilers.

He has recorded 89 points (40 goals, 49 assists) in 362 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Detroit Red Wings and Edmonton.
