Jordan Kyrou scored on a breakaway with 3:52 left in overtime as the St. Louis Blues defeated the host Florida Panthers 5-4 on Saturday night.
Kyrou also scored in regulation as the Blues snapped a two-game losing streak, rallying from a 4-1 third-period deficit. Brandon Saad, Ryan O’Reilly and Vladimir Tarasenko also scored for the Blues. Saad and O’Reilly each added an assist, and Thomas Greiss made 33 saves.
However, Blues center Brayden Schenn left the game due to a lower-body injury and did not return.
The Panthers got one goal each from Aaron Ekblad, Radko Gudas, Carter Verhaeghe and Anton Lundell. Sam Reinhart and Gustav Forsling added two assists, and Spencer Knight made 32 saves. It was Verhaeghe’s team-leading 12th goal of the season.
Oilers 4, Rangers 3
Leon Draisaitl scored a power-play goal with 2:02 remaining as Edmonton stormed back from a three-goal deficit and beat host New York.
Draisaitl sped past Chris Kreider and scored into the vacated left side of the net for his fourth game-winning goal of the season.
Edmonton scored three times in a span of 5:42 in the third after the Rangers took a 3-0 lead on goals by Kreider and Julien Gauthier 33 seconds apart late in the second. Evan Bouchard scored the first two goals of Edmonton’s comeback before Dylan Holloway got his first career goal to tie it with 9:39 remaining.
Hurricanes 3, Flames 2
Brett Pesce scored his first goal of the season to break a third-period tie as Carolina beat visiting Calgary to snap a five-game winless streak at Raleigh, N.C.
Seth Jarvis and Martin Necas also scored for the Hurricanes, who had been 0-1-4 during a skid that dated to Nov. 17. Carolina goalie Antti Raanta, playing for the first time in five games, made 18 saves. He had been slated to start Wednesday but did not play because of an illness.
Adam Ruzicka and Tyler Toffoli scored goals for the Flames. Flames goalie Dan Vladar made 30 saves in just his second outing in more than two weeks. The Flames finished 2-3-1 on a six-game road trip.
Devils 5, Capitals 1
Jack Hughes recorded his first career hat trick and Vitek Vanecek made 37 saves against his former team to lift host New Jersey to a victory over Washington in Newark, N.J.
Captain Nico Hischier scored a power-play goal, Fabian Zetterlund also tallied and Dawson Mercer notched two assists to help the red-hot Devils post their 15th win in their last 16 games. New Jersey also snapped a six-game home losing skid to Washington and avenged a 6-3 loss to the Capitals on Oct. 24.
With the victory, Lindy Ruff became the fifth NHL coach with 800 wins. He has 571 victories with the Buffalo Sabres (1997-2012), 165 with the Dallas Stars (2013-17) and 64 in two-plus seasons with the Devils.
Islanders 5, Flyers 2
Zach Parise scored twice for New York, which collected three third-period goals to pull away from visiting Philadelphia in Elmont, N.Y.
Adam Pelech scored in the first period before Brock Nelson and Anthony Beauvillier scored the go-ahead and insurance goals in a 22-second span early in the third period for the Islanders, who have won four straight. Goalie Semyon Varlamov recorded 26 saves.
Lukas Sedlak and Joel Farabee scored for the skidding Flyers, who have lost 10 straight (0-7-3). Goalie Felix Sandstrom made 18 saves.
Avalanche 4, Stars 1
Josh Manson had a goal and an assist, Nathan MacKinnon, Andrew Cogliano and Dryden Hunt also scored, and host Colorado beat Dallas.
Alexandar Georgiev turned away 41 shots for the Avalanche. Colorado played without forward Evan Rodrigues due to a lower-body injury suffered Wednesday night against Vancouver. Coach Jared Bednar said at Saturday’s morning skate that Rodrigues will miss up to four weeks.
Joe Pavelski scored and Scott Wedgewood had 32 saves for Dallas.
Canucks 5, Golden Knights 1
J.T. Miller had a goal and two assists and Spencer Martin made 26 saves to lead Vancouver to a victory over host Vegas.
Andrei Kuzmenko had a goal and an assist for Vancouver, which scored a season-high three power-play goals. Brock Boeser, Elias Pettersson and Bo Horvat also scored goals for the Canucks, who won their third straight road contest. Martin improved to 6-1-1 this season.
Jonathan Marchessault scored in the third period for Vegas, which suffered its fourth loss in its last six home games, including both ends of a back-to-back that started with a 4-2 loss to Seattle on Friday. Logan Thompson allowed a season-high five goals on 36 shots.
Maple Leafs 4, Penguins 1
Auston Matthews had a goal and two assists as Toronto extended its point streak to eight games by ending host Pittsburgh’s five-game winning streak snapped.
Mitch Marner had a goal and an assist, Pontus Holmberg and William Nylander also scored, and Michael Bunting had two assists for the Maple Leafs, who are 6-0-2 on their point streak. Toronto goaltender Erik Kallgren made 25 saves.
Rickard Rakell scored for the Penguins. Goaltender Casey DeSmith made 37 saves.
