Seth Jarvis scored a go-ahead goal at the 11:52 mark of the third period to boost the Carolina Hurricanes to a 4-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday in Raleigh, N.C.

Just 2:36 after Pittsburgh evened things at 2-2, Jarvis, from the top of the crease, tipped in a pass by Jaccob Slavin, who picked up his second assist of the night.

Jarvis finished with two goals and an assist, scoring an empty-netter with 37.7 seconds left in the game. Brent Burns and Sebastian Aho each added a goal and an assist, and Teuvo Teravainen had two assists for the Hurricanes, who have won two of their past three games.

Carolina goaltender Antti Raanta made 26 saves.

Sidney Crosby scored both goals for the Penguins, who have dropped back-to-back games.

Pittsburgh goaltender Tristan Jarry made 30 saves.

Penguins forward Vinnie Hinostroza left in the second period due to a lower-body injury he sustained after crashing into the boards.

Crosby extended his point streak to 11 games and opened the scoring at 10:40 of the first. Jake Guentzel, from the boards near the right point, sent a back-door pass to Crosby near the far post. Crosby used his skate to tip the puck to his stick and scored on a backhander.

At 13:06 of the second, Aho tied it. The Hurricanes picked off a pass attempt by Crosby outside the blue line, moved into the Pittsburgh end and executed a tic-tac-toe sequence. Teravainen’s touch pass from the left dot found Aho at the far hash marks for a short-side one-timer.

Burns gave the Hurricanes a 2-1 lead at 2:46 of the third, two seconds after a Carolina power play expired. From the top of the slot, he blasted a one-timer through traffic to beat Jarry on his glove side.

It looked like Andrei Svechnikov extended Carolina’s lead to 3-1 at 8:32, but the Penguins successfully challenged that the play was offside.

Crosby tied it 2-2 at 9:16 during a delayed penalty call. Following a shot by Kris Letang, Crosby was again by the left post. This time, he played the puck off his chest and then backhanded it in. The assist was Letang’s 700th career point.
