Jordan Kyrou scored a hat trick and Jordan Binnington made 40 saves to lead the St. Louis Blues past the visiting New York Rangers 5-2 on Thursday.

Pavel Buchnevich had a goal and two assists for the Blues, who won for the third time in their past four games. Brandon Saad also scored for St. Louis, and Robert Thomas had two assists.

The Blues, who came into the game with an NHL-worst 10.6 percent power play, went 2-for-4 with the man advantage.

Adam Fox and Vincent Trocheck scored and Igor Shesterkin made 15 saves for the Rangers, who are 0-2-1 in their past three games — their longest winless stretch of the season.

The Rangers struck quickly when Fox scored 1:51 into the game with a spinning rebound conversion of Barclay Goodrow’s shot from the left flank.

The Blues tied the game just over two minutes later when Thomas burst up the left wing, pulled up along the wall and found Kyrou breaking into the slot to score his first goal.

Then Kyrou put the Blues up 2-1 with a power-play goal off the rush at the 7:30 mark. Thomas pushed the puck up the middle and fed Buchnevich racing up the left wing.

Buchnevich fired a pass to the right post, and Kyrou got there for the redirection.

Saad put the Blues up 3-1 midway through the second period with a power-play goal. Brayden Schenn caught a cross-ice pass, fired a shot on goal, then one-handed the rebound to Saad for his one-time shot from the right circle.

Kyrou pushed the Blues’ lead to 4-1 with a breakaway goal with 12:59 left.

Trocheck cut that margin to 4-2 with a power-play goal with 9:02 left on a weak-side rebound conversion. But with Shesterkin off the ice for an extra attacker, the Rangers got no closer and Buchnevich scored an empty-net goal with eight seconds remaining.
