Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored 12 seconds into overtime Saturday night for the New York Islanders, who ended the Los Angeles Kings’ record season-opening road winning streak with a 3-2 win in Elmont, N.Y.

The Isles overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period.

Anders Lee scored twice in the third period before Pageau scored on a backhanded breakaway for the Islanders, who have recorded a point in 11 of their last 12 games (7-1-3). Goalie Ilya Sorokin made 34 saves.

Adrian Kempe and Vladislav Gavrikov scored in the second period Saturday night for the Kings, who had their 11-game road winning streak snapped. Los Angeles was one win shy of tying the all-time mark set by the Detroit Red Wings during the 2005-06 season and matched by the Minnesota Wild in 2014-15.

Kevin Fiala had the primary assist on both goals Saturday for the Kings, who set the NHL record for most consecutive road wins to start a season in Thursday night’s win over the Montreal Canadiens.

Goalie Cam Talbot recorded 27 saves.

The Islanders outshot the Kings 11-9 in the first before Los Angeles scored twice in a span of fewer than four minutes in the middle period.

Fiala passed across the ice from the left faceoff circle to Kempe, who went to one knee and fired a shot that squeezed into the net between Sorokin’s stick shoulder and the post for a power play goal at the 5:40 mark.

A turnover by Islanders center Bo Horvat began the sequence that ended with Gavrikov’s shot going past a sliding Robert Bortuzzo and into the net as Sorokin was screened by Dustin Moore with 10:52 left.

Lee put back the rebound of a shot by Mike Reilly at 8:42 of the third to end a sequence that began with Fiala turning the puck over deep in the Kings’ zone.

The Islanders’ captain then tied the game with 4:11 left, when he put back the rebound of a shot by Scott Mayfield following a faceoff win by New York.
