The injury report on Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone was relatively positive Tuesday.

The veteran forward has an uncertain timetable in his recovery from a lower-body injury, but he will not require surgery, according to coach Peter DeBoer.

Stone got hurt Thursday during the Golden Knights’ 6-2 road defeat against the Los Angeles Kings.

“He went and saw some doctors (Monday). Nothing surgical, which is good,” DeBoer said Tuesday. “I would say day-to-day, but it’s probably in between day-to-day and week-to-week. Good news for the most part.”

The same night that Stone got hurt, fellow forward Max Pacioretty broke his left foot, leaving him week-to-week.

Center Nicolas Roy said, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, “It’s tough for us. Obviously, it’s probably our two best players. Some guys are going to have to step up, and there’s going to be opportunities there. Some guys have to take them and work hard there.”

Stone, 29, recorded three assists in Vegas’ season-opening, 4-3 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Oct. 12. He had no points in the Los Angeles game before exiting.

Stone has recorded at least 20 goals in each of the past seven seasons, with his high of 33 coming when he split time between the Ottawa Senators and the Golden Knights in the 2018-19 season. In 366 career NHL games, he has 123 goals and 188 assists.

Pacioretty, 32, logged two goals and an assist vs. Seattle, then had no points against Los Angeles. He has 226 goals and 222 assists in 626 career NHL games.
