Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart has been ruled out of Monday’s afternoon game against the visiting Carolina Hurricanes because of an eye infection.

Hart’s vision has been impaired as he deals with swelling related to the infection, interim coach Mike Yeo said. Yeo said it’s possible Hart is back in the crease for the Flyers (15-25-9, 39 points) in Tuesday’s game against the visiting St. Louis Blues.

“I’m hopeful that he can be available for us (Tuesday), but I’m not 100 percent sure,” Yeo said. “But I don’t think it’s a long-term problem here.”

Martin Jones will start Monday’s game against the Hurricanes. Kirill Ustimenko will serve as the backup after being recalled from Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League.

Hart, 23, is 9-16-6 with one shutout, a 2.96 goals-against average and .910 save percentage in 32 games (31 starts) this season. He is 58-53-15 with three shutouts, a 2.90 GAA and .906 save percentage in 133 career games (126 starts) with the Flyers.
