The Calgary Flames used a three-goal second period to beat the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2 on Saturday night and snapped a four-game skid.

A.J. Greer, MacKenzie Weegar, Yegor Sharangovich and Connor Zary scored for the Flames, while Jordan Oesterle collected two assists. Goaltender Dan Vladar made 31 saves.

Brayden Point and Steven Stamkos each added a goal for the Lightning, who have lost three of their last five games. Nikita Kucherov, who leads the league’s scoring race, collected two assists, and goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 22 shots.

After a scoreless first period, Greer opened the scoring 2:30 into the second frame. Greer sent a shot that eluded Vasilevskiy’s glove for his fifth of the season, which equals the most he’s scored in a season.

Weegar and Sharangovich extended the lead to 3-0 with two markers 43 seconds apart. Weegar doubled the lead at the 6:17 mark with his eighth of the season — also equalling his career high. Amidst some great forechecking work, Weegar blasted a slap shot from the point through the screen.

Sharangovich followed it with his sixth goal in a five-game streak and team-high 11th of the season, a bullet of a one-timer from the top of the left circle. The five-game streak is the longest of his career.

Point put the Lightning on the board at 4:10 of the third period, converting from the slot when he was left unchecked for his 14th of the season.

Stamkos made it a one-goal deficit 90 seconds later. While just inside the top of the left circle, he gloved down a high puck and fired a slap shot for his 15th of the season and fifth in two games.

However, Zary restored Calgary’s two-goal edge a little more than six minutes later. His sharp-angled shot somehow squeezed past Vasilevskiy for his seventh of the season.
