J.T. Miller scored the go-ahead goal in the third period after Vancouver got two goals from Elias Lindholm, and the Canucks beat the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 on Tuesday night at Raleigh, N.C.

Lindholm, making his Vancouver debut after he was acquired from Calgary via trade last week, had a goal in each of the first two periods to help the Canucks push their point streak to 12 games (10-0-2). He played for Carolina from 2013-18.

Quinn Hughes and Brock Boeser had two assists apiece and Thatcher Demko made 22 saves for Vancouver, which was beginning a five-game road trip.

Jordan Martinook and Sebastian Aho had goals for Carolina, but the team’s three-game winning streak ended. Pyotr Kochetkov, appearing for Carolina for the first time since Jan. 11, made 16 saves.

The Hurricanes outshot the Canucks 12-3 in the third period, but Vancouver had the lone goal.

Miller’s 22nd marker of the season came four minutes into the final period and was the game’s only even-strength goal.

Both of Lindholm’s goals came on power plays. For his first tally, he redirected Hughes’ delivery with 2:37 left in the first period. Lindholm then tipped in a shot from Hughes at 16:30 of the second for his 11th goal of the season.

With the assists, Hughes pushed his point streak to seven games. He now has 52 assists on the season, and his 64 points leads all NHL defensemen.

Carolina had a hard time getting going. The Canucks held a 12-4 edge in shots on goal through the first period.

Martinook’s eighth goal of the season came short-handed just 4:25 into the game. Aho pulled Carolina even with a power-play tally with 1:28 to play in the second period for his team-high 18th goal of the campaign.

The Canucks improved to 16-7-3 on the road this season.
