Defenseman Carson Soucy scored twice as the Seattle Kraken overcame an early deficit to defeat the visiting San Jose Sharks 3-2 Thursday night.

Calle Jarnkrok also tallied and Philipp Grubauer made 23 saves for the Kraken, who won their second in a row following a nine-game losing streak (0-8-1). Seattle’s Mark Giordano recorded two assists.

Tomas Hertl had a goal and an assist, Timo Meier also scored and Adin Hill stopped 14 of 17 shots for the Sharks.

With the Kraken up 3-1, Meier pulled the Sharks within a goal on the power play at 9:37 of the third period. Meier, who scored five goals in San Jose’s 6-2 victory against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday, took a pass from Logan Couture and fired a one-timer from the right faceoff circle past Grubauer.

The Sharks had three more power-play chances, but failed to convert. One came with 7:46 remaining after Seattle was called for too many men on the ice and the another came with 1:07 left when Mason Appleton was called for hooking. Even with the goalie pulled and an extra attacker on the latter opportunity, the Sharks were unable to tie it.

San Jose took the lead just 38 seconds into the game as Seattle had trouble clearing the puck from in front of its own net. The puck finally squirted to Hertl, who was alone near the right post, and he tucked it into the empty side of the cage.

Soucy tied the score at 4:18 of the second. Appleton dug the puck out from along the boards in the left wing corner and passed back to Giordano. The Kraken captain sent a cross-ice pass to Soucy in the right faceoff circle, and Soucy put a shot into the far upper corner of the net past a screened Hill.

Soucy gave the Kraken a 2-1 lead at 8:25 of the second, finding a loose puck between the faceoff circles and sliding a shot between Hill’s pads.

Jarnkrok extended the lead to 3-1 at 6:27 of the third, taking Morgan Geekie’s pass from behind the net and putting a one-timer from the slot inside the left post.
