Washington Capitals forwards Tom Wilson and Nic Dowd won’t return until after the All-Star break due to lower-body injuries, coach Peter Laviolette said Saturday.

The Capitals have two games remaining before the break, on Sunday at Toronto and on Tuesday at Columbus.

Wilson, 28, was playing just his eighth game of the season Tuesday night when he blocked a shot off his right leg during a 3-2 loss at Colorado.

Wilson has two goals and one assist this season, raising his career total to 276 points (117 goals, 159 assists) in 655 games over 10 seasons with Washington.

Dowd, 32, was injured Monday after taking a hit along the boards from Cal Clutterbuck in the opening minutes of the Capitals’ 4-3 overtime win against the New York Islanders.

Dowd has 19 points (10 goals, nine assists) in 44 games this season. He has 121 points (55 goals, 66 assists) in 415 games with the Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks and Capitals.
