The Vegas Golden Knights acquired forward Anthony Mantha from the Washington Capitals on Tuesday in exchange for two draft picks.

Vegas will send Washington its second-round draft pick in 2024 and its fourth-round pick in 2026. The Capitals also retained 50 percent of Mantha’s salary in the trade.

Mantha, 29, was Washington’s second-leading goal-scorer with 20 on the season. He also had 14 assists and 17 penalty minutes over 56 games.

The Capitals acquired Mantha from the Detroit Red Wings before the trade deadline three seasons ago. He tallied 44 goals and 48 assists over 174 games in a Capitals uniform and has 286 career points (139 goals, 147 assists) in 476 NHL games with Detroit (2015-21) and Washington.

The defending Stanley Cup champion Golden Knights entered Tuesday with 73 points, good for third in the Pacific Division but 12 points behind the first-place Vancouver Canucks. The Capitals, at 65 points, were seven points out of the second and final Eastern Conference wild-card spot.
