The Washington Capitals activated forwards Nicklas Backstrom, Evgeny Kuznetsov and T.J. Oshie from the COVID-19 list prior to Wednesday’s home game against the Nashville Predators.

The Capitals also activated forward Tom Wilson (upper body) off injured reserve.

The contest is Washington’s first since Dec. 19 due to the NHL’s holiday break and COVID-19 cancellations. Nashville will be on the ice for the first time since Dec. 17.

The 34-year-old Backstrom made his season debut on Dec. 15 against the host Chicago Blackhawks after being sidelined due to a hip injury. He had an assist while playing 18 minutes in the 5-4 loss to Chicago but didn’t travel with the team to Winnipeg and went on the COVID-19 list.

Kuznetsov, 29, has nine goals and 21 assists in 28 games this season. Oshie, who turned 35 last Thursday, has 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 14 games.

The 27-year-old Wilson was injured on Dec. 10. He has nine goals and 15 assists in 27 games this season.
