The Boston Bruins traded Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators on Monday night in exchange for fellow goaltender Joonas Korpisalo, center Mark Kastelic and the 25th overall pick in this year’s draft.

Ottawa will keep 25 percent of Korpisalo’s remaining salary as part of the deal. Boston originally owned the first-round draft pick that it received as part of Monday’s trade.

Ullmark, 30, is heading into the final year of a four-year, $20 million contract. He went 22-10-7 with a 2.57 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage in 40 games (39 starts) last season.

During the 2022-23 season, Ullmark teamed with Jeremy Swayman to form a formidable duo between the pipes for the Bruins, who allowed the fewest goals in the NHL (177). Ullmark came away with the Vezina Trophy as the league’s top goalie that season.

In 247 career games (238 starts) with the Buffalo Sabres (2015-21) and Bruins (2021-24), Ullmark has gone 138-73-23 with a 2.51 GAA and a .918 save percentage.

Korpisalo, 30, went 21-26-4 last season, his first with the Senators. He had a 3.27 GAA and an .890 save percentage.

A nine-year NHL veteran, Korpisalo has posted a 115-107-29 record across 276 games (250 starts) with the Columbus Blue Jackets (2015-23), Los Angeles Kings (2023) and Senators.

The 25-year-old Kastelic had 10 points (five goals, five assists) in 63 games last season. In three NHL seasons, all with Ottawa, he has supplied 14 goals and 11 assists in 144 games.
