Boston Bruins left wing Jake DeBrusk sustained an upper-body injury in the second period and did not return to Wednesday night’s 5-2 victory over the host Washington Capitals.

DeBrusk left the ice after a hit from Erik Gustafsson early in the second period but did not miss a shift. He then took another hit from Alex Ovechkin later in the period while on the penalty kill.

DeBrusk was not on the bench to start the third.

In 77 games last season, DeBrusk, 25, recorded 25 goals and 17 assists. He is currently in his sixth NHL season, all of which have been with the Bruins.
