Dylan Holloway notched his first career hat trick and the visiting St. Louis Blues snapped a three-game losing streak by defeating the Detroit Red Wings 4-0 on Monday.

Jordan Binnington made 19 saves for his second shutout this season and the 17th of his career.

Alexandre Texier also scored for the Blues, who had scored just one goal in each of their previous three games.

Cam Talbot made 17 saves for the Red Wings, who have lost three straight games.

St. Louis controlled play for much of the first period, and Holloway gave the Blues the lead with 3:46 remaining in the frame.

The Wings gave away the puck in their own zone. Cam Fowler set up the goal with a pass from the point to Holloway, who ripped a slap shot from the deep slot. Jordan Kyrou had the secondary assist on the play.

Holloway’s first goal of the game was also his first point in the past seven games. The Blues had a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal in the first 20 minutes.

Just 18 seconds into the second period, St. Louis made it 2-0. The Blues worked the puck up the right side, and Texier brought it into the Wings’ zone. He then snapped a shot from the left circle that eluded Talbot’s glove.

Holloway’s second goal of the game came at 7:45 of the period. Brayden Schenn carried the puck behind the Detroit net and set up Holloway, who lifted a shot above Talbot’s glove. Colton Parayko also had an assist on the marker.

An Alex DeBrincat slashing penalty gave St. Louis a power play in the final two minutes of the period. The Blues came up empty but still carried a 3-0 advantage into the third.

Holloway recorded his hat trick with an empty-netter with 4:06 remaining.

Detroit’s Joe Veleno, who had scored in his previous three games, banged a shot off the post in the late going.
