Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews was placed in concussion protocol on Friday morning.

Toews did not take part in the team’s morning skate ahead of Friday night’s game against the visiting Colorado Avalanche. He has yet to be ruled out of the game, however.

A three-time Stanley Cup winner, Toews recorded an assist in Chicago’s 8-5 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday.

Toews, 33, has 19 points (four goals, 15 assists) in 43 games this season. The forward has 834 points (349 goals, 485 assists) in 986 career games since being selected by the Blackhawks with the third overall pick of the 2006 NHL Draft.
