The Pittsburgh Steelers signed kicker Josh Lambo to their practice squad Tuesday with Chris Boswell in the concussion protocol.

The team also added defensive end Taco Charlton to the 53-man roster to fill the spot of Melvin Ingram III, traded earlier in the day to Kansas City.

Lambo is insurance in the event Boswell doesn’t clear the concussion protocol in time for the Week 9 game against the Chicago Bears on Monday night.

Boswell left last Sunday’s game in the first half following a failed fake field goal attempt. He was nailed by Cleveland defensive tackle Jordan Elliott as he threw. Boswell was evaluated at halftime and ruled out for the rest of the game.

Lambo was cut by Jacksonville last month after three games. He kicked in 46 games over parts of five seasons for the Jaguars. In 78 career games, Lambo has connected on 87.1 percent of his field goal attempts and 89.9 percent of extra point tries.

The Steelers also signed DT Kahlil Davis to the practice squad and released DL Chris Slayton from the 16-man unit. Davis is the twin brother of Steelers DT Carlos Davis.

Charlton was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 21. He was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In four seasons he has recorded 11 sacks, 20 quarterback hits and 12 tackles for loss. He has played in 45 games (12 starts) with the Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs and Steelers.
