Multiple reports Tuesday said the Houston Texans are releasing running back Phillip Lindsay, who will head to the waiver wire.

Lindsay, 27, signed a one-year, $3.25 million contract with the Texans in March after playing his first three seasons with the Denver Broncos. He rushed for at least 1,000 yards in two of those campaigns.

He has been used sparingly by Houston this season, carrying the ball 50 times for 130 yards and one touchdown in 10 games (one start). He has three catches for 37 yards and one score.

Lindsay ranks third on the Texans (2-8) in rushing behind current New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram (294 yards) and David Johnson (137).

Undrafted in 2018, Lindsay made the Pro Bowl that season with Denver. He has rushed for 2,680 yards and 18 touchdowns and has 80 receptions for 502 yards and two scores in 52 career games (33 starts).
