The San Francisco 49ers signed free agent defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day, NFL Network and CBS Sports reported Tuesday.
It will be a pro-rated one-year deal for Joseph-Day, per CBS Sports, after the Los Angeles Chargers waived the fifth-year pro on Friday.
Joseph-Day, 28, was a team captain and started all 14 games of the season before being waived. He had 31 tackles (three for loss) and a career-high-tying three sacks.
In five seasons since the Los Angeles Rams made him a sixth-round draft pick out of Rutgers, Joseph-Day has started in 68 of his 69 career games with the Rams (2019-21) and Chargers (2022-23), tallying 224 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one interception and 11 sacks.
In other moves Tuesday, the 49ers waived wide receiver Willie Snead from the active roster and released defensive lineman Taylor Stallworth from the practice squad.
