New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson will have surgery next week for a foot injury, ESPN reported Thursday.

The team is optimistic that he will be ready for the start of the regular season on Sept. 8, per the report.

Johnson, 27, was not on the field for Tuesday’s practice that kicked off a three-day minicamp.

He caught 37 passes for 368 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games (11 starts) last season.

Undrafted in 2020, Johnson has 96 catches for 1,074 yards and 15 TDs in 50 games (29 starts) for the Saints.
