New York Giants linebacker Azeez Ojulari is expected to be OK after exiting Thursday’s practice with an apparent lower-body injury.
NFL Network reported that an MRI exam revealed “nothing major,” welcome news for a defense that has been hard hit by injuries this week.
Rookie pass-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux, the team’s first-round draft pick, will miss 3-4 weeks with a sprained MCL and linebacker Darrian Beavers, a rookie sixth-round pick, is out for the season with a torn ACL.
Ojulari needed assistance leaving the field Thursday following a conditioning drill during a joint session with the New York Jets.
Ojulari, 22, began training camp on the non-football injury list with a hamstring issue. He was activated from the list earlier this month.
Ojulari set the franchise’s rookie record with eight sacks last season. He also had 49 tackles and a forced fumble while appearing in all 17 games (13 starts) after being selected by the Giants in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
