Arizona Cardinals All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is expected to miss the rest of the regular season with a knee sprain, ESPN reported Wednesday.

However, the Cardinals are hopeful that Hopkins will be able to return in the postseason, per the report. Arizona woudl clinch a playoff berth with at least a tie in Week 15 at Detroit.

The report comes hours after Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said Hopkins was getting a second opinion with noted Dr. Neal ElAttrache. Hopkins, 29, had an MRI on Tuesday. It’s unknown if Hopkins will require surgery, per the report.

Hopkins suffered the injury in Monday night’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The Cardinals have four games remaining in the regular season.

Also, Kingsbury said running back James Conner is day-to-day with an ankle injury. He also had an MRI on Tuesday.

Hopkins was injured on the next-to-last drive of Monday’s game after leaping for a jump ball in the end zone. Two Rams defenders landed on his legs. He got up slowly and retreated to the sideline and was not on the field for the Cardinals’ final unsuccessful drive. He finished the game with five catches for 54 yards on a team-high 12 targets.

Hopkins has 42 catches for 572 yards and eight touchdowns in 10 games this season. He missed three games with a hamstring injury earlier this season.

Conner, 26, leads the Cardinals in rushing with 661 yards and rushing touchdowns with 14.

The Cardinals (10-3) have a one-game lead in the NFC West and travel to face the Lions (1-11-1) on Sunday.
