The Buffalo Bills granted veteran safety Mike Edwards’ request for a release, barring a trade before Tuesday’s deadline, NFL Network reported.

Edwards, 28, has been a healthy scratch most of the season for the Bills (7-2), appearing in three games and playing only 20 total snaps on defense and special teams.

Buffalo signed the two-time Super Bowl champion to a one-year, $2.8 million deal in March, per Spotrac.

A third-round pick by Tampa Bay in 2019, Edwards has recorded 236 tackles, eight interceptions and four defensive touchdowns in 78 games (28 starts) with the Buccaneers (2019-22), Kansas City Chiefs (2023) and Bills. He won Super Bowl LV with Tampa Bay and Super Bowl LVIII with Kansas City.
