The Las Vegas Raiders signed veteran linebacker Jaylon Smith off the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad, his agent confirmed Thursday.
The Saints signed Smith on Aug. 11 but he did not play in any regular-season games. The Raiders are his fifth team in three years.

Smith, 28, had 88 tackles in 13 games with the New York Giants in 2022. He was a second-round pick by Dallas in 2016 and made the Pro Bowl in 2019.
Smith has recorded 624 tackles with 11 sacks, six fumble recoveries and two interceptions in 87 games (69 starts) with the Cowboys (2017-21), Green Bay Packers (2021) and Giants (2021-22).
He joins a Raiders organization in transition. Earlier this week, linebackers coach Antonio Pierce was promoted to interim head coach after the team fired head coach Josh McDaniels, offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi and general manager Dave Ziegler.
Smith potentially could make his Las Vegas debut against his former team when the Raiders (3-5) host the Giants (2-6) on Sunday.
